As of October 1, 2009, Marriage licenses must be obtained in the town where the ceremony is to be held. There is no longer a requirement for premarital bloodwork or a waiting period in Connecticut. Licenses are issued by appointment only, Monday thru Friday 8:15 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
At the Town Clerk’s office, the parties will fill out a license worksheet (general information about each person, including parents’ names/maiden names and the state or country of parents’ birth). The license will be typed while the applicants wait, and they will leave with their license in hand. It is then valid for 65 days and must be used in Glastonbury. There is a license fee of $30.00 due at the time of application.
After the ceremony has been performed, certified copies will be available at the Town Clerk's office, and subsequently in the towns of residence of both parties. The fee for each certified copy is currently $20.00.

Certified Copies of Marriage/Civil Union/Converted Marriage Certificates
Glastonbury’s Marriage records date back to 1693. Civil Union records start on October 1, 2005 and end September 30, 2010. Per state statute, all Marriage records are open to the public prior to July 1, 1997. Commencing July 1, 1997, the records are available without the Social Security Number, unless you are a qualified party by law. Certified copies are currently $20.00 per copy.
Certified copies of marriage/civil union/converted marriage certificates are available for marriages/civil unions/converted marriages that take place in Glastonbury and for marriages/civil unions/converted marriages occurring outside of Glastonbury (but within Connecticut) if either party was a resident of Glastonbury at the time of the application.
